Manila Philippines – The Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC) presented its 24th Star Awards for Television last November 13, 2010 giving three Bests to UNTV 37, a Public Service Channel:

I. The Best Male Newscaster - Mr. Daniel S. Razon, UNTV CEO and Icon in Philippine Media, is known as Mr. Public Service because of his widespread and genuine charitable & humanitarian works.

Razon is considered by many as a genius in the field of public service because of his many unique & successful concepts and innovations in the service of humanity.

It cannot be denied, that he is the envy of his contemporaries both in media and in religion.

His brilliant & intelligent concepts are being copied, which for him is even an advantage for the Filipino people, they being the immediate beneficiaries.

Just like his mentor, Bro. Eliseo Soriano, a known phenomenal preacher, Razon is also phenomenal in his field of expertise which is public service in the real sense of the word.

Remarkable in him is that, whenever others imitate his unique ideas, he is delighted because of the thought that many will again be benefited.

To mention just a few of his many works, are the daily free rides in buses, jeepneys, boats, MRT, even airplanes and the daily free legal & medical services (with free medicines), along also with orphanages and transient homes which provides, free food, medical services and other basic needs.

II. The Best Morning Show – "Good Morning Kuya" (GMK), which is primarily hosted also by Daniel Razon, the certified "Kuya" (Big Brother) ng Bayan.

Along with the many public services, this morning show caters many humanitarian services, all for the benefit of the poor.

The GMK is in fact an intelligent alternative, for it also gives to an individual, both, knowledge, wisdom and spirituality.

Unlike, other morning shows wherein their priorities are just to earn and become rich, GMK gives both physical, intellectual, and spiritual benefits, all for free.

III. The Best Public Service Program – "Bitag", hosted by Ben Tulfo, another brave and intelligent media personality though sometimes tagged as harsh and aggressive, because of his active and prompt personality.

Bitag is also a genuine investigative police and crime-fighting documentary show aired daily at UNTV 37.

While it is earning approval and praise from fair individuals, it is but a pain in the neck for the bad elements of society.

It has solved many prominent crimes in the Philippines and also prevented other crimes to happen because of its prompt and almost accurate strategies and techniques in handling criminal elements.

Congratulations UNTV 37, keep up the good works!

Congratulations! These awards should have been given a long time ago, this is long overdue. These winners are really deserving and even more.

This one's a good news article. We (opinion writers) are also being encouraged to write straight news and I thought with some more minor adjustments in approach and formatting, straight news items would not really be hard for us to deliver.  I think articulating logical and sensible opinion based on facts is a lot more difficult than strictly presenting facts and events which is what news writing is all about.

Thanks Toto. In fact, news writing is far more easier than other kind of writeups. All we have to do is to tell the information you've gathered pertinent to a happening or event that transpired or occurred. It's just a matter of shunning away from giving one's own opinion but to purely state the facts.
